I came across this story recently, and it just made me laugh! I have to share it with you!
There is a cat in the UK who is an accomplished burglar. Oscar the cat (he is a ginger and white - orange and white to us Americans) likes to steal things. But he is picky about WHAT he steals. He prefers to steal ladies underwear!
Over the past few weeks, Oscar has been bringing home underwear (and some socks and gardening gloves) to his foster family. (His foster family has decided to adopt Oscar permanently as well, in spite of his kleptomaniacal tendencies!)
They even phoned the police in their neighborhood to let them know about Oscar's habit, just in case anyone reported items of clothing missing! Police now know about Oscar and have logged his thefts... totalling around 70 so far!
Have you ever had a pet bring you something that didn't belong to him (or to you!)? My Luna girl used to steal shiny things. I couldn't leave any of my jewelry where she could get to it. It would disappear and usually turn up in some odd place later. My cats have always been indoors, so bringing home underwear wouldn't happen! (Full story and photo here.)

One of our neighbor's dogs sneaks into another neighbor's garage and takes gloves, rolls of paper towels, old rags, etc. It seems I'm the only one who has ever seen him in the act because when I told his owner, she finally realized where all the odd things that appeared in her driveway were coming from! And the other neighbor then solved the mystery of where his things were going!

LOL. No, I haven't had a pet that steals things. My sister had a cat that collected rubberbands and put them in her water dish. I've had cats bring gifts of dead things. But, no, I can't say I've ever had a thieving pet. Nice that they let the police, and the neighbors, know about Oscar's issues... ;-)

These kinds of stories help me to realize why we like our companion animals so much...they do things what we perceive to be pranks or jokes and is makes us identify with them that much more. These kinds of stories always make me smile and laugh. I've got an interesting one for you all...every single day, my Boxer Clementine takes one of my husband's tennis shoes out of the closet and deposits it on the top of the stariway. It's always a tennis shoe, and it's always just one of them, never both. Also, she never puts the shoe anywhere else but in that same spot. Weird huh?
