I guess I'm on a roll with sharing about my own pets!
I just had to share this with you. A couple weeks ago, my husband and I were watching a show on TV about Yellowstone National Park. (We both really enjoy documentaries and this one was quite good - from the BBC.)
Most of the time, our cats don't even notice television. I'm surprised actually that they don't notice it more. But for some reason, this documentary caught the attention of our grumpy grey, Oscar! I think it was the birds flitting across the screen, and the sounds of them chirping and singing that got him.
I was able to catch a couple of pictures of him watching intently! It was very funny to see him so interested in the TV! He stood up on the stand to try and get a better view. He didn't try to "get" the birds, but was just interested in watching. His attention was captivated for several minutes.
Do your pets watch TV? What catches their attention most?

My pets just don't seem to pay attention to our TVs...most of them are mounted on the walls so they may be too out of reach to seem part of their world. Mine are much more tuned to what's happening outside their windows...now, that's where the action is!

Those pictures are just precious! My dogs usually ignore the TV but every once and awhile, they will stare at it or walk up to it (especially when there is a dog barking on the show). I have also seen them "watch" the TV when we watch the Westminster Dog Show...it's hilarious because they stare at the TV, but they don't know what to do next!

That's so cute! Oscar looks very intent!
Amber couldn't care less about the tv, but I had a cat before her who was very intrigued with a video called "Video Catnip" that I got for him. It was a series of bird and squirrel scenes, complete with sound effect. When I first put it on for him, he ran to the sliding glass doors to look out at the birdfeeder I had on the deck, which I actually thought was pretty smart - in the past, that's always where he watched birds and squirrels! When he realized that that's not where the sounds were coming from, he went back to the tv, and tried to get into it, then behind it, looking for the birds. After a few minutes of this, I decided that maybe that was torture rather than entertaintment for him and turned it off.

Neither the cats nor the dog seem particularly interested in the TV. But then, neither am I. ;-) My husband watches a little in the evenings -- shows that he has "time-shifted," but beyond that it's not usually on. Maybe they would like it if they had more opportunity.
Love the pics of Oscar. That is so cute!
