This is an amazing story!
Bronson is a champion obedience dog. Deborah and Peter Allen, his humans, tell stories of his good behavior! He found Peter's cell phone and brought it to him before he even knew it was missing. Well, Bronson brought home something more alarming than a cell phone!
He showed up with a deadly copperhead snake in his mouth, and wrapped around his jaws. Deborah says, "... he'll pick anything up and bring it to us, hanging on to it until we say 'give'." Luckily, when he brought the snake home, his humans were there to help him out of a life-threatening situation!
Unsure of how to handle this potentially scary situation, Peter told Deborah to get a photograph as they tried to figure out how to help Bronson. He thought no one would believe their story without photographic evidence. Deborah found a bag and was able to get it up and over the snake - still in Bronson's mouth. She said "Give" to Bronson, and he obeyed. The snake dropped into the bag and they sealed it up.
Deborah and Peter then rushed Bronson to the hospital to be safe if he had gotten a bite, which it turns out, he had. Bronson had to spend four days in the hospital, but he is healthy and happy at home again! (Full story at the Herald Sun site. Photo by Deborah Allen.)
Have you ever had a pet do something like this? Or experience a snake bite? Crazy!

That's wild! I'm glad Bronson was ok and that they were able to get the snake off without more bites to themselves or Bronson. Thank goodnes, no, my dog has never brought me anything like that. She mostly brings me balls and tug toys. Would she bring a snake if she had the opportunity? I can only hope not... ;-)

Wow..what an unusual story! I wish that we could somehow make dogs and other pets aware of certain dangers. I'm glad to hear that Bronson is okay.

Our smallest cat has brought snakes home twice...just harmless ones, but bigger than her! She lays them on the patio and then lays down beside them and both times I've had to do a double take because it has looked like an extension of her own tail! Bringing home snakes is one of the main reasons we don't have pet doors anymore. Once, when we did, a whole family of racoons came in and ate my kids' halloween candy that had been left downstairs in the family room! They also washed in the dog's water dish and then pooped in the litter box, leaving muddy little paw prints all over the floor. That's how we knew they had raided us! Funny, but no more pet doors!

Oh Bronson, you silly doggie! I'm glad you are okay. Once I caught a snake inside my house. It was huge! About as big as a PENCIL!
