Four paws up for Honda automakers! It appears that Honda has created a new model designed specifically for animal lovers. Among other things, this car is equipped with an array of pet friendly accessories (such as a rear kennel, a pet bed, a spill resistant water bowl, and even an electric fan)!
This new Honda, the "Element EX" is now being advertised at select car companies across the country and Honda executives expect this car to sell well (see DVM360 for more details).
What do you all think about this idea? Would you spend extra money for a car that has pet friendly features? If so, what kind of features would you like to have? Let's share your ideas!

Hooray for Honda! I have a feeling this will be a profitable move for them, and I hope there are more pet-friendly features in cars in the future. We would consider it if we had dogs instead of cats!

Our dogs were one of the main considerations when we bought our last car (a Honda). I think it's great Honda is doing this, I wish they would have this package on some of their other cars since I think the Element looks like a toaster!

Hi Chris and Daisy, thanks for your comments. You're right Chris...the Element does indeed look like a large toaster! I'm also thrilled to see an automaker do something like this.
I have a question for you Daisy...what kind of car would you create that is designed for cats?

I think it's a great idea to have pet-friendly features in a vehicle! Some of the extras sound great, like the kennel, kennel organizer, dog bed, stowable ramp, spill resistant water bowl and fan. The dog pattern seat covers and the bone patterned mats, the tote bag, and the collar and leash, the dog emblems -- cute but not really value added to me.

Gosh, the only time I go in the car is when I go to the vet's office. Usually my carrier is placed on the passenger's seat. It would be cool if there was something designed to easily and safely accommodate carriers.

Thanks for writing back Daisy. I can see why a comfortable, sturdy kennel would be important for cats. I think a kennel that minimizes outside noise would also be helpful for cats so that they don't get as frightened when riding in the car.
